Description

Cheesecake Croissant Buns are the ultimate indulgence, bringing together the flaky, buttery goodness of croissants with the creamy, tangy delight of cheesecake. Each bite is a perfect balance of textures – the crisp, golden crust on the outside, and the luscious, velvety cheesecake filling inside. It’s the kind of dessert that feels like a special treat, one that’s both decadent and comforting. The sweetness of the cheesecake is complemented by the slight buttery richness of the croissant dough, making for a dessert that’s both satisfying and totally irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale

Croissant Buns

  • 1 package (8 count) refrigerated croissant dough
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

For the Cheesecake Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • Pinch of salt

For the Topping (Optional)

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Fresh berries or fruit preserves (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Croissant Buns

  1. Preheat the Oven – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Croissant Dough – Unroll the croissant dough and separate the individual triangles.
  3. Brush with Butter – Lightly brush the croissant triangles with melted butter to add extra flavor.

Prepare the Cheesecake Filling

  1. Mix the Filling – In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, egg, sour cream, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy.
  2. Scoop Filling – Spoon a small dollop of the cheesecake filling onto the widest end of each croissant triangle.

Assemble the Croissant Buns

  1. Roll the Croissants – Carefully roll each croissant dough triangle around the cheesecake filling, starting from the wider end.
  2. Shape the Buns – Arrange the rolled croissants in a circle on the prepared baking sheet, slightly spaced apart, to form a bun shape.
  3. Bake – Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheesecake filling is set.

Finish and Serve

  1. Cool and Dust – Let the buns cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar for a finished touch.
  2. Optional Toppings – Add fresh berries or fruit preserves on top for extra flavor.
