Ingredients
– 8 oz (225 g) spaghetti or your choice of pasta
– 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
– 2 tablespoons soy sauce
– 1 tablespoon sugar (white or brown)
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
– 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
– 1/4 cup sesame seeds, toasted (for garnish)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Making Gochujang Pasta is straightforward if you follow these easy steps:
1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest.
2. Make the Sauce: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
3. Combine Gochujang: Stir in gochujang, soy sauce, and sugar into the skillet. Mix well, allowing it to cook for another minute.
4. Add Cream: Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce is heated through and slightly thickened.
5. Add Tomatoes: Stir in the halved cherry tomatoes and let them cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until softened.
6. Mix in Pasta: Add the drained pasta to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the strands in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until reaching the desired consistency.
7. Season: Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed. Allow to cook for another minute.
8. Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. If desired, sprinkle fresh basil or parsley for an added touch.
9. Enjoy: Plate the pasta and serve immediately for an unforgettable dining experience.
